"New African"

Why did Sarah not want to get baptized? Why did her aunt want so much for her to get baptized?
We discussed that Sarah did not want to be forced into baptism. She thought that some people (perhaps her brother) were baptized just because it was expected of them.

Look at pages 36-37 and notice Sarah's attitude toward baptism. While she seems ambivalent toward God, Sarah respects the public commitment of baptism. What would it mean if she took such a commitment without really feeling the "call to become Christian"? What connection is there to kissing?

Why does Sarah never get baptized? Why does she continue to go to church? Why does she stop going after her father dies?
